cartoons

Was lamenting the quality of today's cartoons (tsktsktsk..no standard at all!) with enilit yesterday
during tuition and we came up with a short run-through on our favs:

Smurfs(1981-1990)

The little blue guys..and girl.
Besides the unprobable mystery of how a whole village of smurfs came about
with only ONE female smurf..
I later learnt that the smurfs were probably communists..

Captain Planet

Mystical blue (again!) superhero who always, ALWAYS came to the rescue in the nick of time..plus

a bunch of teens who had an amazingly huge interest in saving the world one pollutant at a time.
(I remember having a lollipop "captain Planet" ring once..:P)
While there isn't much to be said about their fashion sense..they had awesome arsenal of transport too...Eco-sub(the small underwater vehicle) and Solar cycles(motorcycle-like land vehicles)
which are actually possible inventions these days.

Transformers

Machine-gun-laser-pointing-crush-you-to-dust-robots..the part i loved best? The way they transformed into super slick sport cars. Who wouldn't want a hot rod like that..okay..so you'd have to sacrifice a little when it went off fighting baddies..but..TRANSFORMERS-leh..even a porsche or a lamborghini pales in comparison

Johnny Quest

I used to plan my little childhood life around watching Johnny in action..(ok..so i exaggerate-i just memorized the times JQ would be on..as well as the reruns..and advertisements..)
I also used to have a huge crush on Johnny Quest-smart,adventurous,blond,blue-eyed...plus he had the coolest life ever!Heh-I know I wasn't the only one-lah..you out there..yes,you! You also thought Johnny was the guy rite? And you also thought that red-haired chick with him was so irritating ..which is why the pic above doesn't have her in it...mwa-hahaha..:P

So,compare this with today's hottest on Nickelodeon:

*sighs* and they wonder why kids don't have that big an imagination these days..
