Latin is the language of ...

This is proof that anything said in Latin sounds profound :)
Can you guess what any of them mean?(The translations come after)

Tua mater tam antiquior ut linguam latine loquatur
.
Capillamentum? Haudquaquam conieci esse!
Si Hoc Legere Scis Nimium Eruditionis Habes.
Cogito ergo doleo.
Avis est! Aeronavis est! Supervir est!

Your mother is so old she speaks Latin
A wig? I never would have guessed!
If you can read this you're overeducated
I think, therefore I am depressed.
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!

And lastly,

Abeo, abeo, abeo, actum est, comites!
Ah-bee, ah-bee, ah-bee, that's all,folks! :)

I recently met up with some friends, some of whom I haven't seen in a while.
One of them suddenly struck me as a remarkably sweet guy.
Hm..I never noticed that trait before

Most of the guys I meet these days are either:

(i) Highly intelligent in utterly useless matters.

(ii) Highly intelligent and falling over themselves to ensure everyone else knows so.

(Note that I used the words most and these days. There are nice guys out there, I know quite a few! :P )

But this unpretentious chap was not really be bothered with proving himself.
It was quite ironic-I meet a sweet guy and realize that I’m incapable of holding a decent conversation with him.

Glib conversation didn't work and attempts to cajole light, fluffy talk failed miserably.
We talked about .... stuff.
Which was surprisingly relaxing. Just talking, listening. Laughing.
No one-liners or quick comebacks…just talk.

I should do this more often.

Thoughts on the mind

Have not been writing for a while now.
Now all I can come up with are hopeless rambling emo stories.
Or maybe I'm listening to too much music from The OC soundtrack.

2 items playing through the mind:

'He listens for her gentle breathing.
Sounds of slumber leading into the realm of wakefulness.'

'We were not meant to live like this:
Hollow persons seeking to eke some semblance of achievement.'

I wonder if all this is really necessary.
Intelligence, eloquence, sophistication (add your current pursuit!)
If at the very next second all of humanity was blotted out-leaving only you.
And all memory linked to a living entity was cleared, what would that leave you with?
My theory is that you’d be an emotionless being.Sterile.

Sometimes I wonder if emotions are the one flaw in the creation of mankind.
I’ve been told otherwise.

I have this undertone of melancholy. I think it comes with being cynical.
Suprisingly though, I can and have been really, really sweet.
(I hope I’m not deluding myself by thinking so!)
They say that kids leaving home and moving to the ‘city’ find it hard to stay Christian.

I’m finding it hard to stay anything ;)
It’s loneliness rather than anything else instigates change.

Iranian Typography

From one of my favourite sites:
pingmag
And a new discovery: Reza Abedini

To this day I wonder if I'd be doing better studying design.

It's a Hyde/Jekyll situation.
With design-I'm a contented, satisfied, all-embracing,nice person who believes all most problems in the world can be solved if people just learn to see the beautiful in every situation.

With everything else-I'm Michelle.
I wonder.

1 train ride later

The apple tree is creeping up to my window again.
I wake up at 2.30pm to the sounds of piano music and art on the wall.

I know what I did last night...

Went a'walkin around the neighbourhood last night with the roommate.
It's interesting-seeing the day close.
Watching families going through their own private rituals.
Humans are remarkably boring in a way. Boring but irresistible. :)
