another one

Chris Rice's blogs! One of my favourite christian artiste! I don't listen to many 'christian songs'. My playlist has the likes of Oasis, The killers, Diana Krall ...and even (shameface-ly) Vanilla Ice.

Heh. Am spending a lot of time on the net..lots of research work. Keep finding interesting things during my breaks! Hence the multiple updates!

Oh these quizzes...

Gibran on Friendship

And a youth said, "Speak to us of Friendship."
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

Old/New

People are all the same actually.
The world is a small place.
3 more weeks to the break.
Socializing skills are now non-existent. So much for getting to know new people.
Then again, I can't keep track of the old people.
Quantifying life is another way setting protection.
Same goes for hermitage?
I have a giraffe now-very happy.
Si vis amari, ama.
Emotions are actually physiological reactions to stimuli.
I need reading time.
Monday is over.

This is one of the prettiest games I've seen in a while.

Goal:Sleep at night

Irony is looking for research papers for your thrice changed lab proposal and finding all the research papers you need and getting only abstracts because you have to bloody PAY FOR EVERYTHING!
MAKE KNOWLEDGE FREE for goodness sake! Literally! For goodness sake.

New medical term: PTSD: pre-test sleep deprivation.

There are some things money can't buy, then there are some things money can't buy.

Late-night thoughts

I miss driving.
Empty long roads at night.
Listening to jazz watching the streetlights swirl into one long messy blur.
5 more weeks.

Design Indaba

I've said this before that I love functional design right?
Here's something that won Most Beautiful Object at the Design Indaba conference in Capetown recently.
I think it definitely deserved the award...but you might disagree. It's an 'above 18' product-so think before you click the
link.

Btw, the word
indaba means 'gathering'

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe...

Okay, so maybe no old woman in a shoe, but yes 8 females + random guest in a house.
It's usually fun. Do you know where we were?Tell-tale signs everywhere!
It's amazing, there are actually TWO in my area-and another one just a 5 minute drive away.

:D Okay, one last picture..and you'll know why we were out.

runs back to unfinished heap of work...eep!

the pinkorangutan is...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I like this comic. It reflects very accurately where I am right now in life.

Sometimes people have this misconception that I actually know what I'm doing.
Truth is I'm as scared as hell that I'm going to ram against a brick wall or fall off the edge of a cliff without even knowing that I am falling. (This of course is my attempt at metaphors-do not try to push me off a cliff to see what happens-I will bring you down with me.)

"Am I doing this right?"
"Should I have said that?"
"Wow, they're nodding in agreement with me-what did I just say?"

But it's okay.
I'm learning faith.

I'm learning to see the brighter side of mistakes and to trust myself.
I'm learning not to think for others (I know you've done this as well :P)
And ironically enough, learning to care less about what other people think.

Where is this leading to?

I'm learning to live a real life. Willing myself everyday to abandon all hope of doing any good on my own and depending on Christ alone.

"That the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh"
~2 Corinthians 4:11

Beloved

Some days, I just close my eyes, breathe deep and remember that he loves me.
Loves me so much.

"I'll make this one a little bit quirky..mold in a love
for reading, cheesy love-songs, travel and all things craft-related.
Throw in a one sided-dimple and maybe a sense of humour..."

6,581,759,453 people in the world.
The rich, the poor, the homeless, the starving, the famous, the lonely,
the sick, the lost, the broken-hearted, the happy, the sad, the found.

All this just for us God, all this for us.

I'm amazed.

High-brow

I only listen to intellectual songs..I mean..why clog the airwaves with junk?
Current hit on my playlist: O
ver the Moon-Rent.
Here's a portion of the lyrics,

"I gotta get outta here
It's like I'm being tied to the hood of a yellow rental truck,
being packed in with fertilizer and fuel oil, pushed over a
cliff by a suicidal Mickey Mouse.
.
.
.

Please sir could you give me a little Moo?
Moo yes!
Moo YES!
Moo with me!
Moooooooo
Moo!
Yes Moo with me!
Yes it sounds beautiful!
Moo!
Let me hear you New York City!

Thank you!"

The Importance of Being Earnest

"Algernon: All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy.
No man does. That's his.

Jack: Is that clever?

Algernon: It is perfectly phrased! and quite as true as any observation
in civilised life should be.

Jack: I am sick to death of cleverness. Everybody is clever nowadays.
You can't go anywhere without meeting clever people. The thing has
become an absolute public nuisance. I wish to goodness we had a few
fools left.

Algernon: We have.

Jack: I should extremely like to meet them. What do they talk about?

Algernon: The fools? Oh! about the clever people, of course.

Jack: What fools!"

Post-weekend

The heat's unbearable. Thank God for housemates who let me sleep in their air-conditioned comfort.

The enilit's gone back to the island down south after getting her monthly fix of cheap food, malaysian time, random friends and of course...me :P
Paddy's again babe?

Leaving that, I'm done with the mid-terms. This semester's going too fast. The speed at which the semester goes by is inversely proportional to the ...um nevermind. I thought I had a nice metaphor.

You know how youth is always emhapsized in almost every discussion setting?
The young ones, the next generation, the future leaders of tommorow!!
Damn right we are.
We are the ones with so much information that ignorance is unacceptable and cynicism is almost unavoidable.
We are the ones who pay money for gourmet free trade coffee and branded goods that only have lifespans of what-5,6 years?

Politics, social equality, education, intellectual critiques, value for money, the deconstruction of status quo.
I'm tired of thinking.

It's some kind of inheritance huh?
